Wellesley Public School's Director of Curriculum & Instruction and the Department of Technology joined forces to develop this year’s November 30th Professional Day. To support system goals related to technology, a rich array of technology workshops and open labs were assembled to spotlight 21st Century technology tools.

We were fortunate to have as our Keynote speaker Will Richardson, an internationally recognized technology consultant and author of Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts and Other Powerful Tools for the Classroom. In addition to the Keynote, Will Richardson, a former educator, facilitated a session on Connective Writing before lunch followed by an unscripted Technology Q&A with audience participation after lunch.

One of the challenges facing administrators and teachers today is how to engage students who have grown up with digital media while teaching the 21st Century Skills of critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, communication, creativity, information literacy, and global literacy. The good news is we have teachers in the district who are willing to share how they use technology in innovative ways to teach these skills to our "digital natives."

We hope this Professional Day offered each of you time to learn and share technology tools, and time to sharpen technology skills in your journey toward meeting the needs of our digital learners.
